Yubico and RockITek announced that Yubico’s hardware authentication product suite has been added to the Approved Products List (APL) for the Department of Homeland Security’s Continuous Diagnostic and Mitigation (CDM) program. Inclusion on the APL will facilitate faster adoption of Yubico’s industry-leading authentication technology within the federal government.
The CDM program is the US government’s most significant cybersecurity initiative, and provides tools that help federal agencies identify, prioritize, and eliminate cyber threats. The Approved Products List includes validated hardware and software products that can be purchased by agencies to meet their specific security needs within the CDM program.
Yubico’s entire product line has been added to the APL, including the company’s FIPS-compliant YubiKey hardware authentication devices and hardware security modules. YubiKeys provide a secure, passwordless alternative for many of the authentication processes used within the government today, including Personal Identity Verification (PIV) authentication.
“YubiKeys are an ideal fit for the CDM program, because they integrate into the organization’s existing identity and authentication systems, and provide a simpler, more secure alternate authenticator within the existing environment,” said Fadi Jarrar, Yubico’s Federal Sales Director. “YubiKeys support authentication for non-PIV eligible employees or devices, as well as direct authentication to many critical applications and web services. With an agency-wide implementation of YubiKeys, the possibility of an account takeover is effectively zero.”
To be included on the CDM Approved Products List, products must first be reviewed by the DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, which evaluates whether the products meet requirements for security, interoperability, scalability, and effectiveness. RockITek provided support and guidance to Yubico throughout the submission process to ensure a successful outcome.
“APL submission is a rigorous process, and RockITek’s expertise was essential for walking us through the process and getting it done quickly,” Fadi Jarrar said. “Our partnership with RockITek will also streamline procurement for our customers, whether they’re buying a few YubiKeys at a time or implementing an agency-wide solution for thousands of users.”
